The shop keepers

Sophie & Owen

A little about us coming soon :)
In the meantime meet the fabric of our team below.

Taryn Border

Born in Los Angeles and raised in New Mexico, Taryn returned to Santa Fe after years in the Pacific Northwest, drawn home by family, sunshine, and the landscape. With nearly 25 years in retail, including time at Aesop, she brings a thoughtful eye for visual storytelling and a love of creating spaces that invite discovery.

At SOTE, she delights in connecting people with beautiful clothing, fine jewelry, and objects made with care. Her shop favorites range from chocolate-covered licorice to Tony Malmed’s luminous fire opals. Beyond the shop, her five-year-old offers daily inspiration—a reminder to stay curious, notice the unexpected, and find wonder in the everyday.

Debby Byzantine

Born in New York and raised in South Florida, Debby lived in Los Angeles and London before her work in fine jewelry brought her to New York City’s Museum of Arts and Design Store. There, she worked as Assistant Fine Jewelry Buyer before joining SOTE in Santa Fe.

She brings a deep knowledge of jewelry craftsmanship and gemstones, a love of art history and black-and-white photography, and a curiosity about the people behind each piece. At SOTE, she especially enjoys meeting designers and connecting with customers, both neighbors and travelers. Her everyday companion is her Nîmes bag; the piece currently capturing her imagination is Margoni’s rutilated quartz ring.

Erica Salmons

Originally from a small town in Texas, Erica long dreamed of calling Santa Fe home. A spontaneous weekend visit—and meeting her now husband—gave that dream roots. With a background in branding and design, she brings a thoughtful visual perspective to SOTE, sharing the shop’s story through digital communications, creative collaborations, and conversations on the sales floor.

An avid reader, she gravitates toward the book collection, from art and design volumes to the Chirri & Chirra stories she shares with her daughter. Outside the shop, she’s learning French, finding fresh inspiration in its language, music, and culture.

Lori Fox

Raised in Dallas, Lori found her way to Santa Fe in search of a slower rhythm, mountain landscapes, and a creative community. Her background in clothing and accessories design has taken her from Ethiopia to Nepal, working alongside artisan groups and deepening her appreciation for the people and traditions behind the things we wear and live with.

At SOTE, she brings that curiosity to every conversation, delighting in what draws someone’s eye and the connections that follow. A current favorite: Jenny Rice’s expressive, coil-built ceramics—functional objects with unexpected forms that invite a closer look.
